Emergency Dental Services

Has an accident resulted in trauma to your teeth, jaws, or gums? Is an infection causing a toothache that is making it difficult to chew? A dental emergency can be a very serious matter because what impacts your oral health can ultimately impact your overall health and quality of life.

There is no reason to endure prolonged discomfort because we offer emergency dental care to alleviate pain and help you get back to the business of life. Our team makes you a priority, and we do everything possible to see you the same day your emergency dental problem occurs. Many dental emergencies are obvious, but there are other instances where you may wonder if the pain you're experiencing counts as an emergency. If you're unsure whether your dental problem is considered an emergency, we encourage you to call us, and we will help you figure out the best next steps.

Persistent or Severe Toothache

A toothache can range on the pain scale from a little wince to throbbing, nonstop pain. Persistent tooth pain can be an indication of an infection in the root canal and should never be ignored. In order to determine what the best course of action is, our friendly dentist will assess the affected tooth and connecting tissues. If an infection is found, it is likely that root canal therapy will be recommended to save your tooth and restore your oral health.

Cracked Teeth

A number of things can cause a crack or even break a tooth, including dental trauma, biting on something that is too hard, or even grinding your teeth. A cracked tooth may be fairly painless, but even if a tooth doesn't hurt, the fissure can lead to other oral health complications over time. A crack in your tooth ultimately functions like a gateway that allows bacteria to get into the internal network of blood vessels and tissue that support your tooth. Once these become infected, root canal therapy is needed to preserve the tooth structure.

You may be able to avoid more complex issues if you visit our office anytime you notice a crack, chip, or broken section of your tooth. We offer a variety of restoration options, including filings and crowns, to repair your tooth and prevent further damage from occurring.

Knocked Out or Avulsed Teeth

Some situations are clearly dental emergencies, and if you have a tooth that has been avulsed (knocked out), then it is vital that you call us immediately. Whether your tooth was knocked out by force or because of decay, there are some very simple steps that you can take prior to your appointment with our emergency dentist.

  1. Rinse both the tooth and your mouth with lukewarm water but do not touch the root of the tooth
  2. Keep the tooth damp by placing it in a cup of milk or water
  3. If the tooth socket is bleeding, then apply gauze to the area
  4. Hold a clean dish towel wrapped around a handful of ice on your cheek to minimize the swelling

Bring your tooth in the cup of milk with you to the appointment, and we will try to set your tooth back in the socket. It is vital that you visit us as quickly as possible, preferably within an hour of your injury, for the greatest chance of saving your tooth. If the tooth cannot be saved, we will craft a treatment plan to restore your smile.
